This winter, despite the many challenges attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic, our sponsored athlete, mogul skier Will Feneley has been doing us and his country proud with recent career-best results.
When we caught up with Will this spring, he had been working hard undergoing an intense training schedule, competing in various World Cup events, and assisting with Mogul sessions for younger, upcoming British skiers. His career has gone from strength to strength, and he has just competed for the Team GB Mogul squad in the World Cup tour which took place from November 2020 to March 2021.
Will has faced many hurdles in the previous year which have resulted in very limited training opportunities and an uncertain event schedule. Despite the challenges he faced, Will exceeded all expectations, and his form has improved substantially on last season. As a result, he successfully secured his best World Cup result in Dual Moguls, finishing 11th at Idre Fjall (a personal best!), as well as finishing 15th in the Deer Valley Single Moguls.
Will has continued to excel beyond this, making both the FIS Olympic and British Olympic qualification criteria for the Olympics in 2022. To qualify, he will be required to attain a top 30 place in the World Cup standings. This is a cumulative score during the qualification period which ends January 2022. He is currently ranked 23rd in the World Cup standings and is determined to build upon this good start to climb his way up the rankings. He will no doubt be busy preparing for the upcoming qualifying competitions which will commence in November/December 2021!
Will’s career is really blossoming, and not only does he have Olympic qualification hopes in his sight, but he has also had several appearances on Eurosport, receiving positive commentary on a regular occasion.
Well done Will…We are with you all the way and wish you every success in your future qualification events!
