Historically it has been challenging, time consuming and expensive for utilities providers to keep accurate and up to date data on the occupants of their supplied properties. But not anymore, leveraging specialist data sets, cutting edge technology and know-how, identifying unknown occupiers and validating existing customer names to turn them into bill paying customers has never been more easy. So how is it done?
Occupier ID
Occupier ID is our proven solution used to identify named bill payers at properties where the occupiers are either unknown or unvalidated. Utilised by Water and Energy providers, we use a range of sophisticated matching algorithms combined with specialist third party data to solve the occupier challenge for our clients, identifying potential occupiers of a property based on their recent activity. Our data-driven occupier solutions enable our clients to proactively contact and move-in customers, and we have accurately identified more occupiers than anyone else in the industry which has seen our clients realise over £40m of benefits. We continually strive to improve our performance through leveraging our machine learning capabilities, new data and technology advancements, and are now pleased to announce the delivery of Occupier ID 2.0.
Continuous improvement
Occupier ID 2.0 offers additional capability, a series of new outputs that increase the number of occupiers returned and enhances the categorisation of matched and unmatched occupiers to give clients an even clearer understanding of their occupier data so that appropriate actions can be taken to contact, bill, append or further investigate their customer accounts, accordingly.
Data powered by industry expertise
Occupier 2.0 uses enhanced data sources to uplift low confidence occupiers as well as addresses where no occupants have a credit footprint. Using credit reference data as a first often captures many, but with the pandemic’s after affects driving more into financial vulnerability, it is also critical to use additional specialist data sources to identify these people as they may have a thin credit profile, or even none at all.
The solution leverages specialist third party data sources which currently have increased value as the data is newly updated by the government. National Fraud Initiative (NFI) data, as well as Land Registry data providing an opportunity for utilities providers to contact the property owners to establish correct billing and management, can be used in isolation or after an initial identification process against credit reference data.
